Summary: | PURPOSE: A method of dehydrating sludge by irradiating microwaves of 700 to 1200W for destroying the cell membrane of microorganisms mainly consisting of sludge, thereby being able to remove even body fluids of microorganisms, is provided. CONSTITUTION: When irradiating microwaves of 700 to 1200W for 30 to 60 seconds to sludge, SCOD (Soluble Chemical Oxygen Demand) of sludge soars to 2000ppm from 300ppm. This result explains that all chemical/physical sludge dehydration methods not being accompanied with microwave irradiation has its essential limits in efficiency because body fluids of microorganisms mainly consisting of sludge are not dehydrated. Therefore, it may be very helpful to sludge dewatering to install a microwave generator in front of or in the middle of a dewatering process. |
