Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a chemically stable indicator representing an irreversible color change by using a base material formed of an aurin constituent. CONSTITUTION: When a chemical indicator 70 constructed by sticking an aurin constituent 75 such as ammonium/sodium salt of aurintricarboxylate to a base material 77 is exposed to a sterilizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide or an oxidizer, the color of the aurin constituent 75 is turned from red showed before treatment to yellow/gold. After the color change, even if the chemical indicator 70 is exposed to an acid or base material or another reagent, no change occurs in color. As the base material, a piece or spot type member made of paper, polyethylene, or polyethylene is used, while the aurin constituent is printed on it by silk screening, for example, and the chemical indicator is produced.
