Summary:PURPOSE: A new lyotropic liquid crystalline compound prepared by introducing polyethylene glycol or polyisopropylene glycol as a neutral hydrophilic group into between two equal alkyl groups to stabilize a liquid crystal structure, connecting the alkyl groups to polyethylene glycol or polyisopropylene glycol with an amide bond and introducing the alkyl groups as a factor for controlling liquid crystal forming capacity into a molecular structure is provided, which does not irritate the skin, continuously supplies moisture to the dry skin and prevents the skin from being damaged by external environment. CONSTITUTION: The process for producing a lyotropic liquid crystalline compound of formula (I) comprises the sequential steps of preparing an intermediate of formula (II) by dissolving o, o'-bis(2-(2-aminoethyl)propyl)polyisopropylglycol in dichloromethane or ethanol and reacting with a haloalkyl compound or haloepoxy compound; preparing a diamide-based compound by reacting alkali or an organic base with the obtained intermediate of formula (II) and fatty acid chloride containing 1 to 31C; and dissolving the obtained diamide compound in an organic solvent, filtering and recrystallizing. The cosmetics contain 0,001 to 30% by weight of the compound of the formula (I) based on the total weight of the composition.
