Summary:PURPOSE: To make surly selectable the condition of driving by setting the power of laser power beams so that the peak power of the laser beams excepting a relaxation oscillation component does not exceed the power required for erasing data recorded in an optical information recording medium. CONSTITUTION: The power of laser beams L1 emitted from a semiconductor laser diode 5 is intermittently raised in accordance with recording signals REC by control of an automatic light quantity control circuit (APC) 20, and the laser beams L1 are condensed on the upper recording surface of an optical disk 2 via a beam splitter 7 and an objective lens 10. The information recording surface of the optical disk 2 is locally heated to change the phase transition film constituting the information recording surface, and data D2 outputted from a host are recorded in the optical disk 2. High frequency sine wave signals S1 outputted from an oscillating circuit(OSC) 23 are superimposed on driving signals SD outputted from a drive 21 at the time of reproducing, and the semiconductor laser diode 5 is driven.
