Summary: | PURPOSE: A removal method of nitrate nitrogen from ground water is provided, which is characterized in that nitrate nitrogen of groundwater is removed efficiently by using biofilter and carbon source. Moreover, remained carbon source and microorganism are removed perfectly by two filtration processes. Thereby, safe drinking water is obtained from groundwater. CONSTITUTION: Groundwater is stayed in a biofilter for 50-60 min. A pall ring is installed in the biofilter to attach denitrifying bacteria. And carbon source like acetic acid is injected into the biofilter as catalyst of denitrification. Acetic acid is mixed with nitrogen existed in groundwater in a ratio of 1.5-2.0 : 1. Continuously, groundwater is filtered in a roughing filter for 20-30 min to remove remained acetic acid. The roughing filter has media to attach bacteria drained from the biofilter, and oxygen for bacteria is supplied continuously. And, remained suspended solids and bacteria are removed at a sand filter. Finally, to obtain safe drinking water, chlorine disinfection is carried out. |
