Summary:PURPOSE: A fluorescent material is provided to have excellent luminance characteristic and resolution of a screen by composing Zn2SiO4:Mn fluorescent material having a globular particle shape. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent material of the invention is indicated as the chemical formula 1 of Zn2SiO4:Mn. The fluorescent material is produced as follows: First, a zinc compound in which mole ratio of zinc to silica is 1.465 to 2.2, a manganese compound having manganese amount of 0.001 to 0.1 mole and aqueous ammonia having 500 to 300 wt part of manganese are uniformly mixed into water. The water is removed from the mixture. The mixture is plasticized at 1,000 to 1,400°C for 0.5 to 5 hours. The resultant composition has globular particle shape. The fluorescent composition can be used to produce a projective CRT.
