PURPOSE: An apparatus for operating TV data is provided so that viewers can play back information when a viewer is absent or does not watch digital TV. CONSTITUTION: A user inputs a keyword of required information in a key input circuit. Information related to the keyword is stored in a digital TV set. A channel scanner/broadcast retriever(20) senses the keyword to automatically scan all channels at regular intervals, if the user is absent or does not watch TV. If a broadcast channel having data information corresponding to the keyword does not exist, channel scanning/broadcast retrieving processes are performed. If a broadcast having data corresponding to the keyword is retrieved in a specific channel, presently-broadcasted contents are stored in a storage(40). A user interface(50) senses the contents. When the user turns on the TV, the user interface displays retrieved information on a screen. The user plays back the stored information.
