Summary: | PURPOSE: A method for removing a small amount of methane gas contained in inert gas using zeolite as an absorbent is provided which removes the gas continuously and effectively. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the steps of (1) allowing methane contained in inert gas to be absorbed in zeolite by passing methane-containing inert gas at a temperature in the range of ordinary temperatures to 50°C through one of two columns in which zeolite as an absorbent is filled, (2) desorbing the methane that absorbed in the zeolite at another column of two columns at above 20°C in which zeolite as an absorbent is filled and (3)removing methane continuously by performing the action of the two columns by turns. The zeolite is selected from the group consisting of molecular sieve-13X, molecular sieve-4A, molecular sieve-3A, Na-mordenite, and Na-Y zeolite(powder), in particular preferably Na-mordenite. |
