Summary:PURPOSE: A short PN code generating device of mobile communication system and a method therefor are provided to generate short PN codes of I component and Q component from single short PN code generator, and to generate short PN codes of I component and Q component by alternately generating short PN codes generated from single short PN code generator. CONSTITUTION: A short PN code generating device of mobile communication system comprises memories(300-319), AND operators(350-369), masks(f0-f19), and an exclusive adder(370). The m19 of the memory(319) is initialized to 1 and the m0-m18 of the other memories(300-318) are initialized to 0. The m-m19 are input to the AND operators(350-369) to be AND with the mask(f0-f19). The outputs of the AND operators(350-369) are input to the exclusive adder(370) to be added, and then output as a short PN code(SQ0).
