Summary:PURPOSE: A fast cooling device for a refrigerating chamber is provided to rapidly cool potable water by placing an additional fast cooling chamber communicated with a freezing chamber on the upper area of the refrigerating chamber. CONSTITUTION: A user turns on a timer-type selection switch(82) after putting potable water into a fast cooling chamber(60) when the user desires to drink very cold water in the hot season. A control unit detects the turn-on signal from the selection switch and drives an electronic damper(40) and a driving motor(54). The cold air in a freezing chamber(F) is forcibly absorbed and exhausted to the fast cooling chamber as a damper flap(42) opens a cold air hole(33) through the drive of the electronic damper. Then, the selection switch is turned off and the cold air hole is closed as the electronic damper and the driving motor are stopped. Therefore, the cold air in the freezing chamber is not introduced into the fast cooling chamber any more. The user is able to drink the potable water by setting the random finish time of a timer in the selection switch through the process.
