Summary:An apparatus and a method for controlling stopper speed of a continuous casting machine are disclosed to prevent shock waves and peak waves in order to suppress surface waves of molten steel. A stopper speed control apparatus of a continuous casting machine according to one aspect of the present invention includes a molten steel level detection unit for detecting the molten steel level of a mold while molten steel is mixed from a tundish into the mold, and a control unit which selects one of automatic operation modes based on the molten steel level and controls stopper speed by adjusting at least one of drive acceleration, response speed and an allowable alarm range according to the selected automatic operation mode. 연속 주조기의 스토퍼 속도 제어 장치 및 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 측면에 따른 연속 주조기의 스토퍼 속도 제어 장치는, 턴티쉬에서 몰드로 용강이 혼입되는 동안 상기 몰드의 탕면레벨을 검출하는 탕면레벨 검출부, 상기 탕면레벨에 기초하여 복수의 자동 운전 모드 중 하나의 자동 운전 모드를 선택하고, 상기 선택된 자동 운전 모드에 따라 드라이드 가속도, 응답속도 및 알람 허용범위 중 적어도 하나를 조정하여 스토퍼 속도를 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
