Disclosed are a streetlight-linked image control device and an operating method thereof. The streetlight-linked image control device includes: a streetlight; a sensor installed on a post and detecting the moving speed of an object within a detection area; and a processor determining an object type based on the moving speed of the object detected by the sensor, controlling the illuminance of the streetlight to be differently adjusted according to the determined object type, and then determining whether to recognize a license plate using at least one of a plurality of image photographing devices according to the object type. 가로등 연계형 영상 제어 장치 및 이의 동작 방법이 개시된다. 가로등 연계형 영상 제어 장치는, 가로등; 지주에 설치되며, 검지 영역내의 물체의 이동 속도를 감지하는 센서; 및 상기 센서에 의해 감지된 물체의 이동 속도에 기초하여 물체 유형을 결정하고, 상기 결정된 물체 유형에 따라 상기 가로등의 조도를 상이하게 조절하도록 제어한 후 상기 물체 유형에 따라 상기 복수의 영상 촬영 장치 중 적어도 하나를 이용한 번호판 인식 여부를 결정하는 프로세서를 포함한다.
