Abstract | The present invention relates to an object detection device for detecting surroundings of a work vehicle and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the object detection device for detecting an object approaching a working area of the work vehicle comprises: one or more sensors installed on the work vehicle and detecting objects located around a work radius; a control unit which classifies an area into a warning area, a danger warning area, a danger area, and a high-danger area according to the distance from the sensor, and determines the area in which the object is located by using the distance between the detected object and the sensor; and a notification unit which transmits a warning sound or announcement in response to the area in which the object is located. According to an embodiment, a sensor is formed on at least one among an outrigger, an outer boom, a boom support, a turntable of a work vehicle, and external access inhibition guide equipment, a visible and audible notification service is provided to a worker by detecting an object entering the periphery of the work vehicle through the sensor, and an accessing outsider is notified that work is in progress.
