The present invention relates to an apparatus for sterilizing a menstruation cup, which uses light of an ultraviolet (UV)-C wavelength band to sterilize bacteria and mycotic virus existing in the menstruation cup, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the apparatus for sterilizing a menstruation cup comprises: a body unit having an inner space of a predetermined size; a cover unit opening/closing the inner space of the body unit; a support unit disposed in the inner space of the body unit and protruding from the inner lower surface of the body unit to support the menstruation cup; a light source unit disposed in the inner space of the body unit and disposed on an inner side surface of the body unit to irradiate light of a UV-C wavelength band toward the menstruation cup; and a control unit controlling the light source unit. The control unit controls the light source unit to irradiate the light of the UV-C wavelength band toward the menstruation cup when receiving a menstruation cup sterilization request signal, checks whether a preset light irradiation time elapses, and controls the light source unit to stop light irradiation when the preset light irradiation time elapses. 자외선 C 파장대의 광을 이용하여 생리컵에 존재하는 세균 및 진균 바이러스를 멸균시킬 수 있는 생리컵 멸균 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 소정 크기의 내부 공간을 갖는 바디부와, 바디부의 내부 공간을 개폐하는 덮개부와, 바디부의 내부 공간에 위치하고 바디부의 내부 하면으로부터 돌출되어 생리컵을 지지하는 지지부와, 바디부의 내부 공간에 위치하고 바디부의 내부 측면에 배치되어 생리컵으로 자외선 C 파장대의 광을 조사하는 광원부와, 광원부를 제어하는 제어부를 포함하고, 제어부는, 생리컵 멸균 요청 신호가 인가되면 생리컵으로 자외선 C 파장대의 광을 조사하도록 광원부를 제어하며, 미리 설정된 광 조사 시간이 경과하는지를 확인하고, 미리 설정된 광 조사 시간이 경과하면 광 조사를 중지하도록 광원부를 제어할 수 있다.
