The present invention relates to a user authentication device using a sound from an input device and a method thereof. The user authentication method using the user authentication device includes: a step of collecting and recording a sound outputted from an input device through a connected microphone when a user inputs information for user authentication through the input device; a step of extracting a frequency characteristic by signaling the recorded sound data; a step of determining whether the extracted frequency characteristic and the frequency characteristic pre-registered for user confirmation match by comparing the frequency characteristics; and a step of conducting user authentication on the user when a difference between the extracted frequency characteristic and the pre-registered frequency characteristic is subject to a predetermined range, and disapproving the user authentication by determining pirate authentication when the difference between the extracted frequency characteristic and the pre-registered frequency characteristic is out of the predetermined range. According to the present invention, since each user can be characterized and classified in accordance with input devices and unique input characteristics of the users, the user authentication device can verify whether the same person accesses the same device or not. Moreover, the user authentication device can be additionally applied without making a change to an existing confirmation and authentication process, and even an acoustic difference according to the type of a key and a specific letter can be recognized, so precise identity verification is possible. 본 발명은 입력장치의 소리를 이용한 사용자 인증 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 사용자 인증 장치를 이용한 사용자 인증 방법에 있어서, 사용자가 입력장치를 통해 본인인증을 위한 정보를 입력하면, 연동되는 마이크를 통해 상기 입력장치로부터 출력되는 소리를 집음하여 기록하는 단계, 기록된 소리 데이터를 신호 처리하여 주파수 특성을 추출하는 단계, 상기 추출된 주파수 특성과 기 등록된 본인 확인을 위한 주파수 특성과 비교하여 일치 여부를 판단하는 단계, 그리고 상기 추출된 주파수 특성과 기 등록된 주파수 특성의 차이가 일정 범위 내에 해당하는 경우, 상기 사용자의 본인인증을 수행하고, 추출된 주파수 특성과 기 등록된 주파수 특성의 차이가 일정 범위를 벗어나는 경우, 인증 도용으로 판단하여 상기 사용자의 본인인증을 불승인하는 단계를 포함한다. 본 발명에 따르면, 사용자의 고유한 입력 특성과 입력장치에 따라 각각의 사용자를 특성화하여 구별할 수 있어 동일인이 동일 기기를 이용한 접근이 이루어지고 있는지를 검증할 수 있다. 또한, 기존의 본인 확인 및 인증 과정에 대한 변동 없이 추가적으로 적용 가능하며, 특정 문자와 키의 종류에 따른 소리 차이까지를 포괄해 인식함으로써 정밀한 동일성 검증이 가능하다.
