The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for reducing wrinkles and whitening skin containing an extract of adventitious roots of Centella asiatica as an active ingredient. The extract of adventitious roots of Centella asiatica of the present invention is free from cytotoxicity, has excellent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, inhibits the production of melanin pigment and matrix metalloproteinases, and has an excellent effect of promoting the production of procollagen, thereby capable of being used for external application for skin or cosmetics for reducing wrinkles and whitening skin. 본 발명은 병풀 부정근의 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 피부 미백 및 주름 개선용 화장료 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 병풀 부정근 추출물은 세포 독성이 없으며, 항염 및 항산화 활성이 우수하고, 멜라닌 색소 및 기질금속단백질분해효소의 생성을 저해하며, 프로콜라겐의 생성을 증진시키는 효과가 우수하므로, 피부 미백 및 주름개선용 화장료 또는 피부 외용제 등에 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것이다.
