The present invention relates to an image monitoring system and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the image processing system includes an image obtaining part obtaining a reference image at a predetermined shutter speed value; an object estimating part estimating a type of an object by analyzing the object appearing in the reference image; and a shutter control part controlling the shutter speed value based on the estimated type of the object to obtain an additional image. According to the present invention, since a shutter speed value is controlled in response to the type, speed value, and photometric value of an object analyzed in an image to obtain an additional image, a clearer image of the object is able to be obtained. In addition, by using the clearer image for object recognition, the recognition rate can be improved and the quality of collected security images can be considerably improved. 본 발명은 영상 감시 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면, 소정 셔터 스피드값으로 기준 영상을 획득하는 영상 획득부와, 상기 기준 영상 내 출현하는 객체를 분석하여 상기 객체의 종류를 추정하는 객체 추정부, 및 추가 영상을 획득하도록 상기 추정한 객체의 종류를 기초로 상기 셔터 스피드값을 조절하는 셔터 조절부를 포함하는 영상 감시 시스템을 제공한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 영상 내 분석된 객체의 종류, 속도값, 측광값 등에 대응하여 셔터 스피드값을 조절하여 추가 영상을 획득함으로써 객체에 대한 보다 선명한 영상을 획득할 수 있으며, 선명한 영상을 이용하여 객체 인식을 수행함으로써 인식률을 향상시킴은 물론, 수집되는 방범 영상들에 대한 질을 크게 개선시키는 효과를 기대할 수 있다.
