A smart phone-controllable intelligent power strip and an operating method thereof are proposed. The method for operating a smart phone-controllable intelligent power strip proposed by the present invention includes the steps of: collecting power data of home appliances plugged into the power strip; extracting characteristics of the collected power data using a feature extraction algorithm; recognizing the home appliances by using the extracted characteristics and transmitting recognition information about the home appliances to an application of a smart phone; outputting the recognition information on an application screen of the smart phone by receiving the recognition information in the application of the smart phone; and remotely controlling the home appliances by using a UI shown on the application screen of the smart phone based on the recognition information. Accordingly, the present invention can contribute to a smart home IoT field by accurately controlling the home appliances. 스마트폰 제어 가능한 지능형 멀티탭 및 그 동작 방법이 제시된다. 본 발명에서 제안하는 스마트폰 제어 가능한 지능형 멀티탭의 동작 방법은 멀티탭에 플러그인 된 가전기기의 전력 데이터를 수집하는 단계, 특징 추출 알고리즘을 이용하여 수집된 전력 데이터에 대한 특징을 추출하는 단계, 상기 추출된 특징을 이용하여 상기 가전기기를 인식하고, 상기 가전기기에 관한 인식정보를 스마트폰의 어플리케이션으로 전송하는 단계, 스마트폰의 어플리케이션에서 상기 인식정보를 수신하여 스마트폰의 어플리케이션 화면에 출력하도록 하는 단계, 상기 인식정보를 기반으로 상기 스마트폰의 어플리케이션 화면에 나타낸 UI를 이용하여 상기 가전기기를 원격으로 제어하는 단계를 포함한다.
