The present invention relates to a method for preparing O-chlorotoluene and P-chlorotoluene. The method according to the present invention comprises a step of isolating and collecting non-reacted toluene from a reaction product of toluene and chlorine, and a step of removing a catalyst from the remaining reaction product by contacting the reaction product with an alkaline solution, thereby fundamentally blocking contact between the non-reacted toluene and the alkaline solution and minimizing the moisture content of the collected non-reacted toluene. 본 발명은 o-클로로톨루엔 및 p-클로로톨루엔의 제조 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 제조 방법은, 톨루엔과 염소의 반응 생성물에서 먼저 미반응 톨루엔을 분리 및 회수한 다음, 나머지 생성물을 염기성 용액과 접촉시켜 촉매를 제거함으로써, 미반응 톨루엔과 염기성 용액의 접촉을 근본적으로 차단하여, 회수되는 미반응 톨루엔의 수분 함량을 최소화할 수 있다.
