The objective of the present invention is to provide an around view monitoring device and a method therefor capable of producing normal top views even without moving a vehicle to a designated place even after an electronic control unit is replaced. The achieve the objective of the present invention, the device comprises: a plurality of cameras of photographing views around a vehicle; an electronic control unit including a first storing unit of storing first parameter data and first state information, to control the process of the photographed images; an image processing unit of receiving multiple compressed vehicles encoded and photographed by the cameras and outputting restored images after decoding the compressed images, depending on the electronic control unit; an image converting unit of converting the outputting restored images into top views; an image synthetic unit of producing one top view by synthetizing the converted top views which are rotated and moved; and a display device including a second storing unit of storing second parameter data and second state information and displaying the produced one top view or the outputted restored images.
