Provided are an apparatus for removing a protective structure of a submarine cable, which is provided to remove, using a crane, the protective structure protecting the submarine cable by being installed to push down the submarine cable buried or pulled under the sea floor, and a removing method using the same. The apparatus for removing the protective structure of the submarine cable comprises: a mesh main body which is installed in a longitudinal direction of the submarine cable while being interposed between the submarine cable and the protective structure; and a sling connector which connects a sling of the crane to at least one side of the mesh main body so that the crane can lift the protective structure with the mesh main body. Since the mesh main body interposed between the submarine cable and the protective structure is pulled and lifted by the crane via the sling connector, the rubble bed constituting the protective structure can be lifted and removed at once. Thus, the protective structure can be rapidly removed from the top of the submarine cable and hours and labor for the work can be reduced.
