Summary: | Provided are a coal briquette having excellent hot strength and a manufacturing method thereof. The method for manufacturing the coal briquette is applied for charging in a dome portion of a molten gas furnace and rapid heating in a molten iron manufacturing apparatus that includes i) a molten gas furnace in which reduced iron is charged; and ii) a reduction furnace that is connected to the molten gas furnace to provide the reduced iron. The method for manufacturing the coal briquette includes i) a step for providing powdered coal; ii) a step for providing a coke by-product that suppresses the high-temperature powdering of the coal briquette; iii) a step for providing a curing agent and a binder; iv) a step for providing a mixture by mixing the powdered coal, the coke by-product, the curing agent, and the binder; and v) a step for providing the coal briquette by molding the mixture. In the step for providing the mixture, the amount of the coke by-product contained in the coal briquette is greater than zero and is equal to or less than 30 wt%. |
