Summary:The present invention relates to a composition comprising Peucedanum japonicum thunberg leaf extract as an active ingredient for alleviating, relieving, and treating colitis, particularly ulcerative colitis, since the Peucedanum japonicum thunberg leaf extract is verified to have an effect for alleviating, relieving, and treating ulcerative colitis. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the Peucedanum japonicum thunberg leaf extract shows effects of change in body weight, colon length and tissue condition improvement, change is spleen weight, and inhibition of inflammatory cytokine in blood. Thus, the composition according to the present invention can be valuably used for alleviating, relieving, and treating colitis by replacing conventional materials.
