Summary:PURPOSE: A system and method, and a method and terminal for tracking an interested area used in the same can quickly and precisely track an interested area in a terminal and allow a user to be quickly and precisely provided with augmented reality video. CONSTITUTION: A video frame acquisition unit (101) obtains a video frame. A situation adaptation engine (103) calculates a previously stored template. The situation adaptation engine compares a feature point extracted from the video frame with a feature point extracted from the template to determine whether to perform feature point-based tracking based on the accuracy. The situation adaptation engine compares the template with the video frame to determine whether to perform template matching-based tracking. The situation adaptation engine tracks an interested area of the video frame according to the determination result.
