Summary:An industrial automation system and a method using an image signal are provided to automatically obtain character information outputted to a monitor screen without any additional software or hardware and to use the obtained character information as a member for controlling and automatizing a system. A graphic card(112) outputs an image signal as to state of a facility control device, and a recognition device(300) extracts character information by receiving an image signal outputted from the graphic card. An automatic device(500) generates a facility control signal and transmits the signal to an industrial facility. The image signal is inputted to a signal inputting unit(310), and a signal analyzing part(320) analyzes the image signal. A digital converting unit(330) converts an analog signal into a digital signal, and a character recognition processing unit(340) recognizes the character information form the information analyzed by the signal analyzing unit. A character recognizing unit(346) recognizes a character region extracted by a character region extracting unit as the character information.
