Summary:A hood latch for a vehicle is provided to prevent passengers from being injured during a vehicle collision. A hood latch for a vehicle comprises a hood latch base(10) having a guideline, which includes a opening vertically opened outward at the top of the guideline, a bracket(20) capable of vertically moving with one side thereof being inserted into the guideline, and a catching hook(30). The catching hook includes one end fixed to the hood latch base and an opposite end formed with a catching portion, which is detachably attached to the bracket. The guideline is a kind of groove, into which a striker(60) coupled to the hood is able to be inserted and longitudinally extends to allow the bracket to vertically move.
