A seam butt type insulation system for an LNG tank is provided to achieve an excellent insulation property, airtightness and processing performance, to reduce a working process and duration so as to improve productivity, and to allow an easy montage and a solidness of an insulation layer. A seam butt type insulation system for an LNG tank includes: many second insulation plates(20), arranged continuously so that they are connected to a ship body by means of a connection material of a ship-body insulation plate; a tongue(30), mounted on the upper central surface of the second insulation plates in a longitudinal direction of the second insulation plates; a second protective wall(40), formed as one body in such a manner that both sides of an invar strake(41) are welded respectively to the tongue of one-side second insulation plate and that of the other-side second insulation plate; a first insulation plate, inserted between the tongues in such a manner that it is located in an upper part of the each invar strake between the tongues; a connector(50), connecting the first insulation plate with the tongue by using a bolt-nut connection of both sides of the former; and a first protective wall(60), made out of a stainless steel, and welded to the upper surface of the first insulation plate.
