Summary: | A method for preparing 3-O-substituted ascorbic acid is provided to conveniently produce the desired product with high yield and high purity within short period of time. A method for preparing 3-O-substituted ascorbic acid represented by the formula(1) comprises the steps of: (a) reacting 5,6-O-isopropylidene ascorbic acid represented by the formula(2) with a halogen compound represented by the formula(3) of R-X in the presence of an anion exchange resin in which polyiodine anions are absorbed and in at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethyl formamide, methyl pyrrolidone, dimethyl acetamide, and acetonitrile so as to prepare 3-O-substituted-5,6-O-isopropylidene ascorbic acid represented by the formula(4) at a temperature from room temperature to 70 deg.C; and (b) deprotecting the compound of the formula(4) in the presence of a perfluorosulfonic acid type resin and in a mixture solvent of ethanol and water. In the formulae, R is C1-7 alkyl or alkenyl, and X is halogen. |
