Summary:An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to reduce the consumption power necessary for the ID registration with one time scan signal by operating the plural indoor devices with one remote control. An air conditioner comprises a remote control(30); and plural indoor devices(21) capable of bilateral communication. Each indoor device has an indoor wireless transceiver unit(22) transmitting/receiving the remote control and the communication signal, a receiving strength measuring unit(23) connected to the indoor wireless transceiver unit to measure the receiving strength of the received signal, and an indoor microcomputer(24) controlling to transmit the receiving strength measured at the receiving strength measuring unit and the ID code of the indoor device by the remote control through the indoor wireless transceiver unit for the ID registration of the indoor device which is the operation object of the remote control.
