Summary:PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of surface discharge type plasma display is provided to be capable of increasing its displaying contrast by making non-light-emission areas between lines inconspicuous. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a surface discharge plasma display panel comprises steps of: forming the display electrodes and the light shielding film on the internal surface of the front substrate; coating a dielectric layer having a first thickness on the internal surface of the front substrate to cover the display electrodes and the light shielding film and annealing the dielectric layer; and coating another dielectric layer having a second thickness larger than the first thickness on the dielectric layer and annealing the another dielectric layer.
