Summary:PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to satisfy a user's taste changing color of a display portion. CONSTITUTION: A circuit substrate(21) is fixed in an operation panel. At upper side of the circuit substrate(21) is formed a display portion(15). The display portion(15) has a digitron(25), a display window(23) shielding the digitron(25), and color changing device in front of the display window(23). The digitron(25) displays cooking method and operation state of the apparatus. If a user selects a select button(37), a controlling portion identifies the displaying color on the display window(23), and decides which driving motor(32, 34) between a first reel(31) and a second reel(32) is to be operated.
