Summary:PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to enhance a photo reactivity depending on the voltage of a liquid crystal cell by extending a twist angle of a liquid crystal layer in a moderate range and to prevent the degradation of a contrast ratio depending on the increase of pixel number. CONSTITUTION: An upper phase difference film(110) having 7.8x0.001 of refractive index difference, 51 micrometer of thickness, and 85 degrees of optical axis angle is attached onto an upper polarizer(100) having 45 degrees of absorptive axis angle to restrain the excessive change of a contrast ratio. An upper glass substrate(101) is attached onto the upper phase difference film, and An indium tin oxide film(102) is layered onto the upper glass substrate in a specific thickness. A lower phase difference film(111) having 7.8x0.001 of refractive index difference, 6.229 micrometer of thickness, and 119 degrees of optical axis angle is attached onto a lower polarizer(104) having 71 degrees of absorptive axis angle. A lower glass substrate(105) is layered on the lower phase difference film, and a transparent conductive film(106) is layered on the lower glass substrate. The upper and lower phase difference films enhance a contrast ratio. 본 발명은 액정표시소자에 관한 것으로, 특히 패시브 매트릭스 구동용의 네마틱 액정표시소자에 있어서 액정층의 트위스트 각도를 응답시간이 심각하게 늘지않는 범위로 증가시켜 액정셀의 전압에 따른 광반응성을 향상시켜 액정표시소자의 화소수 증가에 따른 콘트라스트비의 저하를 해결하고자함을 목적으로한 액정표시소자에 관한 것으로, 이러한 본 발명의 목적은 상편광판과 상부유리기판 사이에 소정 두께를 갖고 상기 액정트위스트각을 변화시키는 상위상차필름과, 상기 하편광판과 하부유리기판 사이에 소정두께를 갖고 상기 액정층의 트위스트각을 변화시키기 위해 형성된 하위상차필름을 부착함으로써 달성된다.
