Summary:PURPOSE: A method for controlling scratch compensation of a disk is provided to control the movement of a pickup device to the next position without a scratch, if a scratch occurs in a moving position of the pickup device. And the method is also provided to control the movement of the pickup device through a higher speed mode by one stage, if a scratch occurs in a moving position of the pickup device according to a present speed mode. CONSTITUTION: A moving position of a pickup is decided on the basis of DSI(Data Search Information) detected according to a set play speed mode, and the pickup is moved to the decided position. Whether the pickup is moved to the decided position is confirmed. If the pickup is not moved to the decided position, a scratch is decided to be generated, to re-adjust a search position of the pickup on the basis of DSI according to a speed different from the moving speed of the pickup. If the pickup is moved to the decided position, a scratch is decided not to be generated, and return to a speed set by a user is performed to reproduce the disk.
