PURPOSE: A device and method for automatically deciding an aspect of a linear camera is provided to decide an aspect ratio of an image automatically by using a linear scale in an image processing system by using a linear camera having a fixed resolution. CONSTITUTION: An object fixing jig(102) fixes an object(101) and transmits a motion of a transferring unit(103) to the object(101). The transferring unit(103) is moved by the object fixing jig(102) and moves the object(101) in the left and right directions. A motor(104) drives the transferring unit(103). A linear scale(105) is moved by the transferring unit(103) and detects a moving direction of the object(101) and generates a pulse signal. A synchronizing signal generating unit(106) counts the pulse signal and generates a line transmission signal used to a line camera(108) per fixed pulse. A computer(107) adjusts a vertical direction resolution of the line camera(108) in accordance with the line transmission signal, and adjusts an aspect ratio of an image of the object automatically. 본 발명은 해상도가 정해진 리니어 카메라를 사용한 화상 처리 시스템에서 리니어 스케일(Linear Scale)을 이용하여 자동으로 영상의 종횡비를 결정하도록 한 리니어 카메라의 종횡비 자동 결정장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 이를 의해, 본 발명은 피사체를 고정함과 아울러 이송수단의 움직임을 피사체에 전하게 되는 피사체 고정 지그와, 피사체 고정 지그에 연동되어 피사체를 좌/우로 이동시키는 이송수단과, 이송수단을 구동시키는 모터와, 이송수단에 연동되어 상기 피사체의 이동 방향을 감지하여 펄스 신호를 발생하는 리니어 스케일과, 리니어 스케일에서 발생되는 펄스 신호를 카운팅하여 일정 펄스마디 라인 카메라에 쓰이는 라인 전송 신호를 발생하는 동기 신호 발생수단과, 동기 신호 발생수단에서 발생되는 라인 전송 신호에 따라 리니어 카메라의 수직 방향 해상도를 조정하여 피사체 화상의 종횡비를 자동 조절하는 컴퓨터를 구비한다.
