Summary:PURPOSE:To high-efficiently feed cooling water to a grinding stone under high speed rotation, by a method wherein recessed grooves are formed in the outer peripheral surfaces of flanges adapted to mount a grinding stone to a grinding stone shaft in a manner to nip the grinding stone therebetween, and cooling water is injected toward the root part of the groove. CONSTITUTION:A grinding stone 18 is rotated at a high speed and cooling water is injected toward a root part 2b of a flange 1A through a cooling water injection hole 5 of a cooling water feed pipe 4. In this case, cooling water 9 is collided with the root part 2b in a state to be mixed with the flow of air flowing toward the root part 2b of the flange 1A. A film layer of air on a groove slope 7, formed by high speed rotation of the flange 1A, is brought into a state in which the film layer is mixed with the cooling water 9. The cooling water 9 flows along the groove slope 7 and a side 3 of a grinding stone, and a grinding stone 12 attached to the grinding shaft 18 in a manner to be nipped between the flanges 1A and the machining point of a workpiece 23 are high-efficiently cooled by means of the cooling water 9. Under the above cooling state, machining of the workpiece 23 is progressed.
