Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the real measured value of a reaction rate irrelevantly to the amount of a material to be measured in a sample by detecting a maximum absorbance variation quantity section among absorbance variation quantities between measurement sections and an adjacent section and using this variation quantity as a reference value. CONSTITUTION:Reaction pipes 3a-3c are provided in a thermostatic chamber 1 and nozzles 4-6 for reagent dispensation and a stirrer are arranged at the periphery of the chamber 1. A light source 8 is provided in the tank 1 and a reaction state is detected optically through mixed liquid 2. The absorbance values of a low-concentration sample (a) and a high-concentration sample (b) are measured to find the section where the absorbance variation quantity is maximum and then the variation quantities of sections on both sides of this section area checked. Then the section where the values have a present constant ratio to the maximum value is found and set as an absorbance variation linear range; and the variation quantity is found by the least squaring method and used to calculate the measured value. Consequently, the reaction rate is measured irrelevantly to the amount of the material to be measured in the sample and the real measured value is obtained.
