Summary:PURPOSE:To eliminate discontinuity in printing by subdividing a single line into blocks with the overlapping ends and supplying correction power twice to the overlapping end after obtaining such electric power by application of a correction factor to an electric power corresponding to a density to be displayed by a thermal head drive device. CONSTITUTION:Of subdivided blocks, the first block contains the first pixel to the 457th pixel, while the second block contains the 407th pixel to the 889th pixel. The maximum energies to be applied to the first and second blocks with each overlapping 50 pixels heated between the first and second blocks, and the second and third blocks respectively, are taken to be E1, E2. The heat energy E to be supplied to these overlapping pixels subjected to heating is E=xsi1E1+xsi2E2, where 0<=xsi1<=1, 0<=xsi2<=1. The correction factor xsi1 is a linear decrease function of 1 for the 407th pixel, and 0 for the 40th pixel and 1 for the 457th pixel.
