Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome virus (HFRSV) antigen, having high phylactic effects and wide antigenic spectrum, by cultivating an acclimated strain of a mouse cerebral cell of the HFRS virus in a mouse brain. CONSTITUTION:HFRSV is subcultured in mouse brains for >=10 passages and acclimated in mouse cerebral cells and the resultant acclimated strain is then cultivated in a mouse brain to collect the above-mentioned mouse brain. A solution containing a virus stabilizer (e.g., enzymic inhibitor, such as chelating agent or basic amino acid) is then added to the brain and the brain is crushed and suspended to prepare a cerebral emulsion in 5-30wt.% concentration. The resultant emulsion is subsequently centrifuged to collect a supernatant and a solution of a viral inactivator (e.g., aldehyde) is added to the supernatant to inactivate the virus and purify a virus antigen. Thereby the aimed HFRSV antigen is obtained. An HFRS vaccine and HFRS diagnostic agent are prepared by using the above-mentioned antigen.
