Summary:PURPOSE:To seal the hollow yarn membrane without bending or collapsing the membrane and without using an adhesive by inserting an insertion having an m.p. higher than that of the hollow yarn membrane into an inner periphery of the end of the membrane, preheating the end at a temp. higher than the m.p. of the membrane and lower than the m.p. of the insertion, mounting an outer sleeve, and fusing the end. CONSTITUTION:The insertion 20 of metal, etc., having an m.p. higher than that of the material constituting the porous hollow yarn membrane 1 made of fluororesin, etc., is inserted into the inner periphery of the end 1a of plural membranes 1. The end of the membrane 1 contg. the insertion 20 is preheated at a temp. higher than the m.p. of the synthetic resin constituting the membrane 1 and lower than the m.p. of the insertion 20 to melt and contract the end. The membranes 1 contracted by the preheating are bundled, the outer sleeve 2a made of fluororesin, etc., is mounted on the end of the bundle, the assembly is fitted into a closed vessel 3 and heated by a heating plate 4, the vessel 3 is evacuated, and the ends of the membrane are melted in the state of pressurized contact with each other and fused to each other.
