Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain a silk-like fabric satisfying the characteristics inherent in silk including luster, puffiness, resilience and touch of feel peculiar to silk by subjecting specific sheath/core-type conjugate polyester filament yarns to interlacing treatment followed by heat treatment, stretching and then weaving/ knitting operation. CONSTITUTION: This silk-like fabric is obtained by the following process: a sheath/core-type conjugate polyester filament yarn having such core shape as to have uneven outer periphery because of complicatedly kinky boundary on the section between the sheath component 22 and core component 21 each consisting of polyester-based polymer, is introduced into an air jet nozzle 3 and subjected to interlacing treatment by the aid of air jet stream to form interlacedly bundled parts 12 along the longitudinal direction of the filament yarn; subsequently the resulting filament yarn is brought into a heater 5 where it is put to relaxing heat treatment to effect form setting, and then stretched to erase part of the loops and/or interlacedly bundled parts; thereafter the resulting filament yarn is subjected to weaving/knitting operation followed by melting and removing the sheath component of the filament yarns with an aqueous alkaline solution.
