Summary:PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of positioning and to speed up a switching operation without damaging optical fibers and connector ferrules by executing fixing of the other connector ferrule which is a reference for positioning by pinching of positioning pins. CONSTITUTION:After the one connector ferrule 4 is fixed, the positioning pins 6 fixed to both the connector ferrules are pressed and moved so as to be detached from the one connector ferrule 4 and to be projected to the outside of the other connector ferrule 3. The other connector ferrule 4 is then fixed by pinching the pins 6 and thereafter, a guide sleeve 7 is moved to the position across the two connector ferrules. The pinching of the pins 6 is then released and after the pins 6 are moved to the position where the pins are fitted to the two connector ferrules, the fixing of the other connector ferrule 3 is released. The secure fixing is thereby enabled without exerting an external pressure to the connector ferrules.
