Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a soft capsule usable in a wide range such as foods and drugs, having excellent acid resistance, water resistance and heat resistance and improved safety of coating film, by crosslinking gelatin in a coating film of capsule with an iridoid compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) 1pt.wt. gelatin is crosslinked with (B) 0.001-1.0pt.wt., preferably <=0.005pt.wt. iridoid compound at pH4-10 at 5-10 deg.C to give the aimed soft capsule which can pack a lipophilic, neutral, alkaline, hydrophilic or acidic substance in a liquid or powder state and be thermally sterilized after molding because of excellent thermostability.
