Summary:PURPOSE:To increase the bonding strength of a discharge tube and a metallic electrode, and to stabilize characteristics while reducing power loss by forming the electrode on the outer surface of the discharge tube through a high melting- point metallic method. CONSTITUTION:A paint-like body in which an organic binder is mixed to a metal such as Mo is applied onto the outer surface of a discharge tube 1 formed to a tubular shape by a dielectric in conformity with the forms of electrodes 5. The applied body is thermally treated at a temperature of 1300-1700 deg.C, and metallized. The metallic electrodes 5 are obtained through Ni plating. Voltage is applied between both electrodes 5 from a high-voltage AC power 2, a laser medium gas A is flowed into the discharge tube 1, and laser beams are output. Accordingly, the degree of adhesion of the metallic electrodes 5 is improved, thus allowing stable laser oscillation. Power loss is also reduced.
