Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of the decision of the normal/defective coating conditions by irradiating a primer coated surface with a laser beam, picking up the image of high and low contrast by the transmitted beam and detecting the defective primer coating from the picked-up image pattern. CONSTITUTION:A laser light emitting part 93 and visual sensor 94 of a defective primer coating detector 91 are opposed via the primer coated surface of windshield glass 2 and the image of high and low contrast on the primer coated surface formed by the transmission of the laser beam is picked up by the sensor 94. The number of the picture element signals above the set concn. value in the primer coated region is integrated by a 1st adder 615 via a controller unit 608 or the like to calculate the area of the part where an adequate amt. of the primer is actually coated. On the other hand, a 2nd adder 616 reads out the picture element signals corresponding to the adequately coated amt. of the primer stored in a sub-memory 605 and calculates the intrinsic adequate primer coating area. The areas calculates by the two adders are compared 617, by which the normal/defective coating conditions are decided with the high accuracy.
