Summary: | PURPOSE:To complement the single functional property of optical fiber with an organic functional material capable of expecting various functions and to allow it to functionalize by using a silane coupling type reaction and fixing the organic functional material into optical fiber consisting of SiO2 as a main body. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber is allowed to functionalize by using a silane coupling-type reaction (i.e. monomethyldichlorosilyl group is used as a silane coupling-type agent) and fixing an organic functional material (i.e. chrysene and retinene) wherein absorption spectrum of light differs before and after the photoirradiation by means of light fed from the outside into i.e. hollow tubular optical fiber consisting of SiO2 as a main body. By this method, both defects of the instability of organic substance and the single functional property of optical fiber are complemented by combining an advantage obtaining high transparency, namely large optical density of optical fiber and an advantage capable of expecting realization of various delicate functions of the organic material, thus a new type communication material which has not been obtained heretofore can be realized. |
