Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the by-production of gell and the reduction of molecular weight and to obtain a polymer in high yield at the time when a cyclic phosphagen comd. is polymerized with heating in the presence of a solvent and a catalyst by polymerizing while adding more solvent with advancing the polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The cyclic phosphagen compd. expressed in the formula in figure (y=3.4) (e.g. hexachlorocyclotriphosphagen) is dissolved in 0.3-3 times wt. solvent, is added with a catalyst (e.g. a complex consisting of sulfuric acid and ferric sulfate) and is subjected to start the polymerization by heating. Then the polymerization is advanced while adding more solvent continuously or batchwise to the polymerization system with advancing the polymerization, and the amount of solvent is regulated to 3-10 times wt. to the amount of cyclic phosphagen compd. at the end of the reaction. Thereby, the phosphagen polymer is obtained in high yield in a short reaction time.
