Summary:PURPOSE: To attain a fault processing without complicating the fault processing and a control data by providing a detector detecting a fault of a frequency division multiplex transmitter and an informing device informing the occurrence and detection of the fault to an exchange via a time division multiplex line. CONSTITUTION:A specific time slot extracting circuit 10b references the information of a head time slot of one frame on a PCM line to generate a fault detection signal at the occurrence of an FDM line fault and to inform it. If a fault takes place in the FDM line 4, the occurrence of the fault is detected by a detection circuit 23 of an FDM device 2 and its detection signal is sent to a multiplexer 8. The multiplexer a supplies the detection signal to a head time slot of one frame of the PCM line 9 as fault occurrence detection information and sends the result to the exchange 7. Thus, the exchange 7 opens a call forcibly corresponding to each talking line easily to attain fault processing.
