Summary:PURPOSE:To stabilize the tension of a strip and to prevent the generation of flaws and rupture, by detecting the load currents of motors for driving rolls in a specific section and operating speed controllers for both the rolls by a speed commander at the time of conveying the metallic strip by many rolls. CONSTITUTION:The load currents I2, I3 of the motors 6-2, 6-3 for driving the rolls 2, 3 are detected by current detectors 7-2, 7-3 in order to control the tension T2 of the strip 5 between the rolls 2 and 3 to a prescribed value independently regardless of the front and rear tensions T1 and T3 at the time of conveying the metallic strip 5 in an arrow direction by the plural rolls 1-4 and subjecting the strip to an annealing or other heat treatment. The detected values are added by a current adder 10. The speed command values to be applied to the speed controllers 9-2, 9-3 of the rolls 2, 3 are simultaneously increased or decreased in the same amt. by the value obtd. after the added value is multiplied by a constant to determine the magnitude of a drooping characteristic, by which the tension of the strip is controlled independently only in the specific section. Since the tensions of the strip in the respective sections is not affected by the mechanical loss of the rolls, the generation of the flaws and rupture in the strip is obviated.
