Summary:PURPOSE:To exactly express a variation of an element by taking a correlation between elements into consideration, in case a variation of the element caused by the manufacturing process capability of an LSI is displayed and generated by a normal random number. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of a data input device 1, a control device 2, an arithmetic unit 3, a storage device, and an output device 5. From the data input device 1, a characteristic value (average value, standard deviation) related to each element of sequence groups A(0), A(1),... being in a sequential correlation to the reference element A(0), and the relative accuracy Y1, Y2,... to the element being in the front position of the sequence are inputted and stored in the storage device 4. The control device 2 controls the arithmetic unit 3 and the storage device 4, executes various arithmetic operations, and the output device 5 outputs its result. In this way, by taking the relative accuracy for showing the correlation into consideration, a method for generating a normal random number for giving a correct element variation is obtained.
