Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a corrosion-resisting steel sheet in which occurrence of pitting is prevented and workability and weldability are improved, by allowing P to diffuse into the surface of a steel sheet in which respective contents of C, Mn, S, Cu, and Ti are specified and further by coating the above with nonferrous metal. CONSTITUTION:The steel sheet has a composition consisting of, by weight, 1.001-0.02% C, 0.1-0.5% Mn, 0.001-0.005% S, 0.1-1.0% Cu, 0.005-0.1% Ti, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. If necessary, 0.001-0.5% Ni and further 0.001-0.5%, in total, of one or more elements among Mo, Nb, Al, Zr, and V are incorporated to the above composition. Subsequently, P is allowed to diffuse into a depth of about 0.5-50mu in the surface layer of an automobile steel sheet with the above composition, and this P-diffused layer is coated with nonferrous metal such as Zn, etc., by plating, etc. In this steel sheet, rust formed in the initial stage concentrates the element eluted from steel matrix into the rust layer and forms a stable corrosion-product film, so that spread of rust can be prevented.
